The core of traditional bowhunting is traditional archery. In its basic essence, we consider "traditional archery" to be: A form of stick that is considered the bow, which could range from a one-piece solid wood selfbow to a multi-piece, laminated carbon fiber and metal risered recurve style bow. There can be no added mechanical advantage to the bow's design or draw or release. A single bowstring of natural or man-made materials is attached to the ends of the bow. Arrows and fletching can be of natural or man-made materials. The bow's arrow rest can be as simple as the bow hand's knuckles to some form of elevated rest. Hunting broadheads must be of the cut-on-contact type (single, twin, triple or four blades) - no mechanical heads. When a traditional bow is braced and an arrow is nocked on the string, the act of shooting it requires that the bow is held in one hand, and the fingers of the other hand grip the string for the archer's muscles to draw, anchor, aim and release the arrow. A traditional bow is aimed instinctively, or by some method of gap or point of aim, or with the use of some form of pin sight attached to the bow, or marks on the bow's riser or limbs.
