Looks like a good year for both white and red oak mast. The red acorns, in particular, are massive this year.

Shot land-o-lakes 3-D sunday, parking area looked to be an inch deep in acorns, felt bad for the folks parked in that area, sounded like a hail storm with the acorns bouncing off there trucks. Todd

It's been my observation from years past, that the "traffic" through the woodlot I hunt is much higher during good mast years. This is true even though my land is surrounded by crops. Not only are there more deer sightings, but they linger and brouse and munch. They seem more relaxed as well. The real plus, for me, has been the dynamic during the rut.Does in my woods munching on acorns brings in bucks hot to trot. Man, do I love that! Counting down the days, aren't we guys?

It starts tonight for my grandsons and I. We are going to see if we can help feed the hungry!

Private land my family owns the nuts are falling like crazy. White oaks.
The red oaks around our house are silent. Last year they dropped like crazy but haven't found one yet. Kinda odd. Hope I can find the magical oak in the public land nearby once the 1st rolls around. I think it will be the center of the action.
Jeff: That is an awesome picture brother! Family is where its at!
