Took a doe this morning. Hit her a little far back which made for a tough tracking job. I decided to back out and give the trail a little more time. On the way to the truck I found her sprawled out in the middle of a cut bean field. What a lucky break! I would have been on my hands and knees tracking for an hour to follow her trail through the woods.

You guys rock!!! Don't you just love bow season in Michigan. We are blessed, guys. The bow hunting heritage in this state is second to none. We have more public land than almost any other state. We have strong whitetail genetics and a thriving, albeit, somewhat localized deer herd. We are fortunate.

Nice deer Drew! I had an 8 point about as big as Michigan grows them at 8 yards last night, with 2" of draw started. He must have seen my broadhead slide the 2" and he didnt like it. He spun around and walked away never giving me a shot. I want to be mad, but I cant. I didnt do anything wrong. The wind was blowing hard and he was EXTRA spooky. Any other "normal" day he would have been taking a ride in my truck with me. The ironic part of the whole thing is I was sitting in the same stand I shot a nice 9 point from last season. I was sitting there thinking how cool it would be if another nice buck strolled by that same exact spot...................he did, within feet of last years deer. No trails, just coincedence. I had to take this morning off and regroup. I have hunted the last 18 mornings and nights. Im on a vaca.
