I'll be in Alberta from September 25 to October 5 for moose. If you have any thoughts as to appropriate clothing/boots, I'd appreciate hearing them. Thanks very much! (thanks for the suggestion Yves!)

Can be anywhere from 70 to 0 degrees . Can snow, rain or be hot. So bring clothes for cold fall weather, rain, and for nice fall weather. I usually layer wool over light performance underwear like underarmour or helly hansen. Can get by with warm shirt on balmy days and then layer up if it gets cold. Moose are most active in very early morning till about 1100 am from my experience during the rut. But you can call them from a long ways away when they are rutting. You are coming at a great time for rut in Alberta. I have harvested four and so have my fellow trad hunters here in Alberta ( colllectively about 12 over the years between us all), so if you need any advice you can PM me.

I hunted moose a few years back mid Oct. NW of Edmonton in the mountains. As mentioned above the weather can vary quite a bit. Layered clothing with a back pack to store clothing as needed. We did a lot of walking between calling. I had a few days where it became too warm for my early morning clothing and I did not have a back pack with me to put the layers in as the day heated up.
