Well done and well written too. I had a similar experience with my first impala but I didn't have a decent camera with me. I took it on a farm in one of the best bushveld birdhunting areas that I had hunted in with my Dad for years. I first went up there camping and following afer my Dad on the Springbok flats at age six. I finally stopped birdhunting there in my University years. Going back 28 years later with my self bow and home made arrows etc and doing what you did sure is a beautiful way of closing the circle. I kept a journal of the experience and kick myself for not taking more photos, just one grainy pic of me and the ram, but actually it was the emotion of the hunt rather than the pictures that counted in the end.

Great story and pics too. Congrats on a good buck and on your accomplishment with homemade equipment. There is a feeling you just can not explain when you have taken game with something you have made with your own two hands.
