Hope to get mine bending more today but after a bone head move that knocked one of my limbs off the work bench last night I came in the house. But it cleaned up nice the divot wasn't as deep as it looked.

I'm on the probation list Shaun and waiting to ship my bow so I hope it shows up here [bigsmyl]

My recipient is on the list as well but I have no doubt they will come through as they have been in every swap and shipped in a reasonable time after the deadline. I may go ahead and ship it cause I'm itching to see the mail lady bring me a long tube [goldtooth]

Sure have been some great bows built this year and more to come.

Well, she's tillered, but she took more set than I wanted. I'm not happy with this bow. I'm thinking I will go ahead and finish it out and send it, but make another, hopefully, more worthy.

Mike, I haven't tried it myself, but if I were working that stave, I think I'd run a taut string along the back side of the bow, tip to tip. Measure from the string an equal distance to each end of the handle. Draw a line between marks and rasp off what's beyond the line. Then your handle will line up with the bow and it should be balanced. If your handle is too thin you can glue on another piece of wood. Then again, maybe ideas like this are why I don't always succeed when I'm working a difficult stave.

--------------------
Don't know how I got here and don't know where i'm going, but life is grand.

The stave is looking good Mike. Looks like there are a few challenges but one to learn on and hopefully get a nice shooter out of it.

Got it braced to 1 inch and the string looks to be dead center... pulled 40# at 10 inches.

Finally got the finish on tonight. Boy, in AZ during the summer it can be difficult to find time when it isn't too hot to spray Deft. I think it came out well, but I am a complete newbie. All that is left is to get the leather grip and strike plate on, and ship. Hopefully by the first part of next week it will be on its way.

There is going to be a lot of activity in the next week!

I've gotta get mine shipped before I go on vacation, which spans the deadline. That leaves me 2 weekends to stay off of next year's probation list.... (and my wife thinks one of those weekends needs to be spent not in the shop.)
