I use Tru-Oil on all my bows.

Sometimes tru oil doesn't dry very well directly over ipe. It helps to seal the ipe with a couple of quick coats of shellac and then use tru-oil over the shellac. Tru oil will dry normally once the ipe is sealed.

Shellac or super glue if ya got it. Super glue spreads easier and farther than you think it would. I have used spray Helmsman on ipe before with good luck as well.

i have used a water based satin verathane- the high gloss products are actually a lot harder- when i have used them, i rub down with fine steel wool- to satin it.

Tip..........

If you use super glue and spread it with your fingers, keep them moving and have plenty of venelation. The fumes are a killer and fingers stuck to the riser ain't much fun either.

You may have trouble with the Tru-Oil not wanting to dry on ipe. A lacquer or shellac should do the trick. I wouldn't recommend super glue though, to risky imho. I've had good luck with Deft spray lacquer and I know some people swear by it. Use whatever works for you and post some pics, I'm sure it'll be a beauty. [thumbsup]
