I just got a Bear Kodiak and would like some info about it. The SS# is DV860 with a dimond over the 8. Its 60" 48#@28. The guy I got it from said he got it when he was a teen. 1956 or 57.Its in good shape. What year was it made and what is it worth? Thanks

A photograph would be best to answer your questions. Besides, we like to see pictures.

barebow17,

Someone gave you an accurate description on how to identify the year on a post I saw somewhere else. If it is double shelf 1955-56 Silkscreens 56' decal 55'. The 57' and 58' will be single shelf and the 58' will have white glass. I will try to take pictures of the 55, 56 and 58 I have. I don't have a 57, darn it.

You can only tell by the serial number on bows from 1965-1969.

All of us wish you could "just tell by the serial number." Need pictures.

Here are they are left to right 55,56,58 in all pictures. Yours sounds like a 57 unless it has white glass like the 58.

Single shelf would make it a 57 then. Bow prices seem to change alot but it is probably worth $150 to $250 depending on the condition and demand. Mike
