All my TX pheasant hunting has been done in the panhandle. I didn't know they had 'em around Gainesville.

There are not any wild ones in this area. These were pen raised birds at a preserve. I would not have a clue where to find wild birds other than up north. I do want To go to Kansas or Nebraska and hunt wild birds one of these days.

Some places in the panhandle no longer have wild bird populations due to the change from gated-pipe irrigation to pivots. There's little natural cover along fencerows now, and they are almost impossible to get out of the CRP land...they just run away...even from the dogs.
