I would get it checked out, doesn't sound good. I took a nasty fall backwards about 5yrs ago, landed on my left elbow, driving my shoulder forward. Cortisone shot and 4 months of rehab. Now I do shoulder exercises with dumbells to help keep the shoulders strong. If I lay-off for awhile I can tell. Feels like my left shoulder starts getting loose. I wasn't able to shoot traditional for a couple of years, hurt, and went back to a compound. Dr said if my shoulder muscles hadn't been strong from shooting archery I probably would have tore my rotator cuff. Hope it's nothing serious. When your able to, look into doing some shoulder exercises to maintane your shoulders and warm up before you shoot. Good luck.

I am no doctor but, I am married to one. Every time i feel a pain that is'nt in the norm i ask her about it. Every time i get the same response. Go see your doctor! The best people to ask are the ones trained and can help you fix the problem. Please go see your doc. I hate going to doctors but I am getting older and those pains just get worse. JMO

Well I am afraid they will tell me that I cant shoot my Bow and more. I quit shooting my compound becouse it irriated my right shoulder. Due to my anchor point and the way I shoot my curve I have felt no pain at all. Now My old injury in the left shoulder is scaring me.
? to you guys is could my grip be absorbing all of the shock into my shoulder. With my compound I had a sling and the bow just rocked forward I am praying that its the grip that is messing with my shoulder if it isnt I might have to find a cross bow GANG [banghead]

My best advice also is see your doctor and maybe a physical therapist can work with you.I have had some elbow pain that bothered me off and on for a couple of years.Went to my doctor and he helped me out with exercises and a elbow brace.I kick my self for not going earlier.

You guys are right I know this shoulder is busted and it is somthing i have had tons of therapy for and lots of pratice keeping it from injury.

My ? is what has made it hurt. Is it the bow or my form or grip. You guys are experts in stick bows so i ask what could have caused it to flare up.Docs are great but if they dont know anything about archery all they can do is prescribe physicall therapy for 3-6months a. I know I have busted shoulder. They can offer little advice on my form or grip. Yall are perfectly correct in telling me too see a doc. But I am asking yalls opinion on what I could be doing wrong

Chris,

It is real hard to try to diagnose a problem without first hand observation. Take some pics of you shooting your bow and maybe we can spot something. How much weight are you shooting?

Mike

I gotta go see the cutter today at 9 for a right shoulder issue.

About 8 years ago I woke up one morning and my shoulder hurt a lot. I have no idea why it started to hurt that morning but the pain was so significant I could not draw my bow for nearly 6 months. My doctor told me that my shoulder muscles simply got stong on one side and weak on the other forcing the joint into a painful placement. I do exercises now and while I have to be a little careful, I can shoot pretty much all day. Good luck
