...we still had plenty of shooting light left and our target was holding tight. Charlie was getting antsy to take a shot and Vance was wondering if he brought enough snacks to wait this one out. The rest of us were hoping there would still be a few cold ones left on ice when we got back. Hmmmm...

It was agreed we would all take the shot and arrow after arrow arched toward our target and when the dust cleared there was a grin on our faces and laughter...

Only two arrows found the target, Bob Walkers and yours truly. LOL Charlie said he wasnt planning to eat it anyhow.

One of the quotes I heard at Sweat. " I'm not climbing up that damn mountain again today."

I love that country you boys were in and if no one explored any of those caves, you don't know what you've missed. I know some folks that have found entire skeletons in some of them in that area, which I personally never looked for or would have bothered had I found any but there are many in that area that have the old fire dumps, out the front, grinding holes inside and out, tons of worked flint and painting on the walls and ceilings. Not to mention all the flood debris you can find (by the way when you do find some of the places with the debris, it'll make you wonder if the camp is high enough up the hill)

I grew up in Ozona and hunted and fished along the Pecos a lot when I was a kid and longbowfanatic is right about those caves. a friend of mine found one that had a hollowed out log piece in it that stll had some corn in it along with the grinding stone and a few arrowheads nearby. We used to find arrowheads all along there around Pandale. I do not know how close ya'll were to that area, but it sure looks the same. Beautiful country. I can not wait to hear more.

Thanks Jeff, I would guess that piece of wood was around 75 yards or so. Our stump shooting sure was fun. The fellowship was even better. A GREAT Group of guys.

Me Mark & Curtis had a bit of stumpin' sesh on the walk back in on day 2. I'd busted an arrow & lost the point & insert. Curtis thought it'd be funny to shoot it out of his brush bow at a big Yucca plant. The damn thing flew better out of his bow like that than it ever did with a broadhead from mine! [Big Grin]
If you ever need to get acclimated with Texas hill country, call up them 2 Texas mountain boys! Boy, they sure can climb a hill. Seemed like a bit of a joke, to me, putting the fat, pasty foreigner with th 2 fittest guys in camp! They don't call it the Sweat for nothin'! [biglaugh]
