I dont want to start a thread about whether speed is good or bad just after opinions on a average speed for an all wood long bow shooting 10 grains per pound.I finished a bamboo floor board bow on the weekend and it shot 167fps and I thought that was OK at 60 pound 10 grains per pound. Cheers KIM

Anytime you get weight plus 100 with 10 gpp your doing good. Most testing is done with 9 gpp and 28" draw. Your bow will be about 176 with that arrow and that's very respectable.
BTW yours is not an "all wood" bow; it's "all grass" LOL

Marc St Louis has achieved around 190 fps with his elm, static recurve self bows using 10gpp hunting arrows. With the proper design a self bow can achieve the same or better speed than a glass lam bow. On the other hand, I feel good with 150 to 160 fps out of my bows with hunting weight arrows. At 20 yards that is plenty. Pat

I recently finished out a Dryad blank that was 56 at 27''. It shoots a 540 grain cedar 10 yards farther than a 55 lb.@28 Martin Hunter drawn to 27'' with the same arrow. With less hand shock, dead quiet and more accurate , my buddy is happy with it to say the least. He gets pass throughs on carp.

All wood bows rule, especially when made by the right hands! I am still working at it!
