After reading G.F. Asbell's newsest story in TBM it seems that Fred and I share the same interest in canadien beer, Labatt's Blue to be specific. He's been my hero since I was kid. Too bad I never got the chance to say "Hey Fred, want another". Of course this would be sitting around the campfire after a successful hunt.

Greg: cool thing was he would sit around the fire and tell stories and LISTEN to stories while sipping a beer - with average Joe and Josephine bowhunters. Still miss that man.

VTer yes I did. I met him long ago at his museum in Graying Michigan. I used to show the movies of his hunts at the Anderson Archery ' Bow Clinic's in Grand Ledge Michigan. I had a chance to sit down with him several times and talk with him; and my family and I sat at his table for dinner. Our paths crossed a lot - and his friend Bob Munger and I sat down together in his camper parked on lake Michigan and picked out pictures for his [Mungers] book. Fred was a kind man that was quick to take interest in everyone - he wanted to hear your stories as much as you wanted to hear his. I never hunted with him - that would have been cool !
