Didn't Joebuck say he was going elk hunting this year? He must have reversed the trend!

I had a friend who built a platform 10 feet by 10 feet in a tree and put a lazyboy recliner in it,buy the time he climbed up he figured he needed a place to sleep.

Its funny how when people see you are losing weight they want to know what your "secret" is. When I tell them eat less, exersize and pray, they walk away dissapointed that I didnt have a secret shortcut. They probably shoot compound bows.

While all in good fun and a good read, I think it is actually possible.
I know of three men in a family that ride four wheelers TO their chosen tree to hunt and have for years.
Keep in mind this is about 200-400 yards off road, not miles.
Not sure if they got heavy due to health or health went to pot due to weight or a combo of the two plus getting older too.
I give em credit where credit is due that they still hunt at all though. They enjoy each other's company and share a family sport together. Good enough for me.
I do know weight loss is steady and consistant if you climb up and down 8 steps, twice, climb on and off a forklift twice (driving it 50 yards both ways), bend over 4 times with 10lbs in your hand, and 4 more times with lighter stuff......and repeat that every 5 minutes, 12 hours a night while you are constantly reminded you are "not keeping up".
Ive dropped FIVE belt notches in 8 months.
Downside? Little things.
Left knee swells a bit, right ankle creaks and 12 disks in your back (isnt that like MOST of em? ) continued their down hill slide more rapidly and takes both hands to get out of the truck when you get home or to get out of bed.
There ARE jobs out there that "age/weight discrimination" should be allowed. LOL
In 8 months, I am now second in line for top "seniority", 27-30 year olds quitting due to physical toll. Half the new hires dont stay a week, some not an entire day.
Hello? Earth to employer? Anything appearing consistant here? lol
Upside is I have good insurance and a low yearly max to pay out of pocket to fix the back so I can "drag" again.
THEN I'm finding a new job if they wont take me off THIS one.
God DOES work in mysterious ways and giving thanks for what remains of one's capabilities has more and more meaning when pushing 60!!
Older and heavy is not a good combo, activity or health wise so ......He Hath Delivered.....once again.
oh yeah......I also get to eat anything I want and still losing more weight......between medications. ROFL
How'd they GET that recliner IN the tree, BTW? Inquiring minds NEED to know LOL. (actually gave up trees stands. One reason of many was it being a PIA to GET INTO them when old, fat and etc etc. More fun on the ground anyway.)
God bless. Put one foot in front of the other....continually repeat. "The secret of weight loss".

I LOVE THIS POST!!!!! That's me now!!!
Yes, overweight. I will have to scramble these next 44 days before Alaska caribou!!

on the lighter side= get yourself one of those digital scales that starts at zero and starts going up when you step on, when you get to a number you like, hop off

On the more serious side, When you get to a point where you can face the facts, that you can't eat whatever you want, and you want to get healthier, PM me and I'll give you information towards that goal.
I should have been dead by now, so I have to figure the Lord left me here for a reason, helping people find this simple remedy is the only thing I can come up with.
Good luck.

Been pretty sick lately. Had 19 vials of blood taken last week & did a spit test. Good news is the Doc says everything will be fine but it will take a good 6 months for me to recover. He says no hard workouts right now but can get back at it in a month or two. Wish everyone out there still working on it good luck & keep going.

Never been to fat to hunt but may have hunted easier without knowing it. Some good humor from some of you - age makes it hard to stay slim if you don't put some effort into it. You would think it would be difficult but if your 50, you only need to get you heart up to 85-145 bpm or so (you can do that by walking). 1/2 hour and work up to 45 min every other day. You get outside, which is what we all like anyway. 220 - (your age) = MAX heart rate (work at 50-85% of that) get a heart rate monitor and use it. You"ll get to hunt longer and see your family longer, promise. I use the hunting season as a reason to do it and fall off in December - one day I hope to go year round. I can't budge the scale down much, stuck around 200, peak around 208 and should be around 190 or so.

I hate to say it but it all starts in the grocery store. Simply don't buy what you know you shouldn't eat. Learn about carbs, proteins, salt and fats. Exercise is important but as one personal trainer told me at the gym, and he was correct, was that you can't out train a poor diet.
