I realize that the majority of folks here shoot a 2 blade or 3 blade broadhead, and I understand why.
However, some people shoot 4 blades such as the Magnus Stinger. Has anyone ever tried Slick Tricks? They have a 125 gr option (which is what I shoot).
I've used them on carbon arrows with my compound for a few years now. To Africa and back they've never failed me. I'm just wondering if anyone has used them with a trad bow.
I shoot 2018's cut to 30"...total arrow weight is around 550 gr out of 55# bow.

I know compounds are different, but in over 30 kills...they've left great blood trails all except for twice. My brother and hunting buddies shoot them as well with similar results and we all shoot 60# compounds...nothing insanely fast coming out of our bows.
While using my longbow, I've been hunting with Magnus 2 blades. No kills yet other than a rattle snake, but I did take some practice shots on a 130# hog after my brother shot it. The 2 blad worked like a charm, but I'm wanting something that leaves a "hole" not a "slice".
Anyway, the Slick Tricks come VERY sharp out of the box and replaceable blades are cheap. I figured I would try some out. Thanks for the input guys.

Over the years I have tried 2s,3s,and 4s, to me you can not beat a sharp 2 blade head with a stick bow. I have never seemed to get as good penetration with 3s and 4s. I have shot all of them out of a compound as well but that extra 100 fps makes a big difference in penetration.

That's what I'm afraid of. Believe it or not, I've done some broadhead testing on pumpkins...it worked pretty well. Tis the season, so maybe I'll give it a whirl.

just to voice an opinion on the slick tricks i have tried them once and had horriable results. they was in a compound set right at 72 lbs. 26 inch ( i shot a 6 inch over draw) 2512 easton arrows. and from a stand 14 ft up i shot a doe perfect quartering away shot and the brodhead hit a rib and turned right up under her shoulder blade . best thing about it was she made 1 jump and stopped just long enough for me to nock another arrow with a razorback this time ( i love razorbacks) i mean i don't want to take away from them but i feel that the blade angle is to steep on them for anything other than a total brodside shot. but that is just my 2 cents. not ment to anger just telling what i know . and also that was 1 shot with them and made me worried so i went back to what i know worked .

A lot of my friends use them with compounds and really like them. Like you say they come extremely sharp and hold an edge very good. A local archery shop here had some people could shoot in his indoor range to see how they shot. After many shot into a target they would still easily shave hair. I know that is hard to believe but I saw it. I know they are not what is commonly used for trad, me included, but I would think they would do a good job.

I'd say they're a bad broadhead when it comes to penetration. I call them high shoulders. Look at a STOS with "low shoulders". Doesn't take a genius to figure out which would penetrate better.
Had a friend ask me about them when he switched to a longbow. I told him my opinion. Guess he didn't believe me. After the season started I got a call from him to get Bridger, my dog, on a blood trail. Well that's not correct - there was no penetration and no blood trail. Even Bridger can't find animal that arn't dead.

That cone shaped non cutting head on a trick screams no with a stick. Take a aluminum arrow set it knock side down. Now take a piece of hide and push carefully of corse on the broadhead strait down. The arrow will bend or break before pushing through. Now try it with any cut on contact head. There's your answer.

They will get less penetration due to the tip design and the steep blade angle, which reduces the mech advantage. With enough horsepower, they would work well, I'm sure. Not sure about your horsepower though. I would want a head with a proven track record from traditional bows.

I shot an Antelope at 13 yards in Wyoming with a 55# Black Widow SA III. It dropped pretty close, but the penetration wasn't the best. Will be using Centaur Big Game Heads this year.

Check out their Razortrick heads. It is a cut on contact design with a short ferrule that would be very difficult to bend even if it contacted heavy bone. Their heads are scary sharp from the factory and hold an edge extremely well.

Thanks for the input guys...just the kind of stuff I was looking for. I think the Razortricks would work ok, but I'm not sold on the conventional heads as far as trad goes.
This weekend I'll keep hunting with my Magnus 2 blades until I do some more testing. I know it should be easy, but I can't sharpen a 3 blade worth a darn...hence the idea of Slick Tricks since they come so sharp in the first place.
