Just finished a 3 day search (I won't call it a hunt) for hogs in north Texas. The rancher had told us that his place was 'covered up in hogs', but they had left the country when we arrived. I finally saw about 20 of the nasty little porkers the last day, on a dead run across a creek that was crawling with snakes and gars (I did not pursue). But it was fun to try and be silent in the dead leaves and briars, and it was nice to see some different country.
Now it is almost time to chase turkeys, so hopefully they will be somewhat more cooperative.

Good luck with the turkeys. I hope to be in West Texas in two weeks.

Many of my unsuccesful turkey hunts, which is most, end up being more rewarding than other critter pursuits that I actually scored.

Cooperative or not, I plan on having a great time.
