One afternoon in the 100 degree sun and 35 mph wind gusts does not lend itself to tuning a new bow. However, I can say, I am very pleased with the performance and feel. So far, I haven't found an arrow it doesn't like.

If the truth was known, we could all use a zipper once in a while I think. I Can't begin to say how many times I've had to eat ill-chosen words.

Thanks for telling this story.

Ric O'Shay,
Maybe the word is Hybrid, something between a recurve and a longbow. I believe the word longbow originated with the English Longbow, while the shorter and somewhat flatter Hill style longbow was first called an American Semi-Longbow.

When John Schulz set up shop, Mrs Hill got him to change his name from LongBow Archery, to American Longbow. After that, manufacturer's started calling it a longbow. I guess more than one word is too many.

I am not sure who coined the term Hybrid, but it still fits, after all it sounds better than Short American Semi-Longbow, just thinking outload. Anyway, it looks like a winner.

That is a beautiful bow, and they do build some very nice bows.

When discussing Longbows with folks I generally preface the word longbow with a descriptor such as English, Hill, Reflex/Deflexed, Hybrid etc. Conceivably any of those could also be a Takedown; either 3 piece or two piece. I’ve shot the take downs and except for the added weight they seem to shoot just as well as their non-takedown counterparts and certainly have their place if one is going to travel; especially via airline. For me I just prefer the feel and weight of a one piece bow. And since I most likely will never travel in anything other than my pickup, I can indulge myself.

Were I to plan a hunt where airlines are the necessary mode of travel, I’d have a takedown R/D longbow in my kit.

Kip -
Congratulations on the bear. The more I get to shoot this bow, the better I'm liking it. Had thought about a set of recurve limbs, but may wait until after this fall hunting season.

Danny
