Lil late in posting this,but there I was sitting at the Zipper booth talking with Bill and Tracey at Cloverdale and I happen to look up and who walks by but Mr. Snuffer himself, Rodger Rothhar. Ryan was in his company and I was a lil hesitant in approaching that kind of greatness,But realized I probably wouldn't get such an opportunity like this again soon,so I took off after them. It's very refreshing to meet people of this stature and find them to be friendly and very approachable. Even with an air of humbleness about their achievements. Ryan even gave me his card for his deer tracking dog and told me to call him anytime day or night if I had one I couldn't find. Was certainly a thrill meeting these two giants of our sport and finding them to be all that! When my first wife's father died we had to go to Ohio to take care of things. While there I decided that I would call Roger to see about his Snuffers. Long story short, I spent two days with him. Ryan was still a toddler at the time. No better people in the business. He was the one who got me to put away my compound bow as I also met his friend, Don Assenheimer and wound up with one of his bows. If I had a way to digitize the slides I have of that meeting I would be happy to share them.

I'm pretty sure their name has been spelled wrong more than right.
While I haven't had the pleasure of meeting up with Roger personally, I have been fortunate to hunt with Ryan. He's a strong little guy and one of the best shots I've had the pleasure to shoot with.
They are both the real deal when it comes to hunting big deer.

I caught Rogers seminar at compton, seemed real down to earth and quite humble. Loved his veiw of the outdoor channel.

I'm a pretty good speller as a rule and I usually have to look it up to get it spelled correctly.
Roger's "Whitetail Magic" is the BEST book of big buck hunting stories I'ver read. His "In Pursuit of Trophy Whitetails" is the best instructional book on hunting the "big boys" is also the best of that genre to me. I wish he'd update us with another book on his pursuit of those big old Iowa bucks---I know it would be a fascinating and entertaining treatise.

I bought some Snuffers and a book from Rodger at the first PBS banquet in 1986 and there was this little kid running around, years later I ended up guiding that little kid(Ryan) on a water buffalo hunt in Australia. He is a killer too, I had to try a hold him back from killing every big boar hog around. I think his recovery distance on the first three averged out to about 15 FEET!

The Rothhaar's are just good people. I was happy to see them at the Compton shoot.

Agreed!! I ordered both of the above mentioned books from Roger and he spent a lot of time with me during several phone conversations some years ago... and while my exploits & accomplishments pale compared to his, he was as genuinely interested in hearing about my bowhunting experiences as he was in describing some of his. And when the autographed books arrived he had also included several photographs of recent whitetail trophies with very detailed descriptions of how each was taken, score, etc. on the backs of them. Excellent books - QUALITY PEOPLE! Would love the opportunity to meet Roger & Ryan some day. Rando

Very,very sweet people.Rodger showed up at my house years ago,to talk hunting in N.Mo. for some reason cant remember now,think something with work, i didnt show up.Was at his place after this and as usual still same ol good guy.I even got to see ryan while there.The salt of the earth these people are.Some of the best people ive ever met in this sport.Need to go see um.Not to far.Will be there this summer Rodger.....Brian
