This is for informational puposes only. Its not meant to offend anyone that disagrees with feeding deer and this does not promote baiting deer. If its legal in your area and you choose to do so, then here is a recipie. Take a 5 gallon pail and fill with shelled corn. Then empty pail into a large tote. Spray the inside of the pail with non stick cooking spray then sprinkle table salt liberally inside. In tote mix corn with 1 bag of corn meal,1 pound of table salt, one jar of peanut butter (optional) and pancake syrup.Instead of peanut butter you can use cherry or grape powdered drink mix. Stir in tote with hoe or small spade to coat corn and mix meal (consistancy should be pastey but not too wet. Pour mixture back in pail and press down to compact. (I normally but a heavy weight on it) Sit in hot sun or outbuiding to cure up. Take to field and dump block out of pail. Deer absolutley love these things and they are easier and cheaper to make on your own. FYI

I knew there had to be an easy way to make these at home. My local feed store sells Deer Blocks by Purina or some other company for like 26 bucks for a 5 lb block or something!!

Just out of interest, Tractor supply sell a few different mineral blocks (I use the brown one) at $7 for a 50lb block. Exactly the same stuff that Purina/c'mere deer/Buckracks & co. put in theirs

Mold is always a risk if it sits too long in wet conditions But honestly they dont last long once found(thats why I looked at a cheaper way)
Depending on the heat cure time is less. I put mine in my black jeep cherokee on hot days (speeds it up)
Like I said they are cheaper to make a deer absolutley tear um up. Of course when mixing last night it smelled so good ,that if my teeth were original equipment I would have tried some.LOL Enjoy
I have found that once the block has disappeared, the ground becomes saturated with the salt/minerals and the deer will return again and again. I know one area that a fellow hunter has used for years and large areas of the gound have been pawed out 2 feet deep by the deer. Unfortunately, his trial camera reveals their favorite time to visit is 11 p.m.-2 a.m.
