i arrived at my stand tonight at 6.15 expecting the same as ive seen the last 2 days no deer but hoping for the best i proceed to take in all the scenery at 7.00 i see the flicker of a tail about 60 yrds to the south of me. its pretty thick with the leaves still on the trees i watch as 3 deer browse closer to my pearch in the cedar tree i confirm 2 juvenile deer and what looks to be mamma it takes em what seems like forever to get to 25 yrds i see that the lead deer is not mamma. but a spike horn and hes on a path that will lead him to 15 yrds directly in front of me. he steps in an opening and i draw concentrating on the spot but hes walking im ever increasing back tension and let out a slight burp . he stops and its arrow away. i watch as the arrow disappears in what i know is a pretty good spot he bolts and i go to shaking like im freezing to death i try and regain some composure and lower my bow to the ground. when i reach the ground i walk over to inspect the site of the impact no arrow is present i proceed to look for sign and see my arrow stuck in the ground about 5 yrds after the hit along with it good blood so i decide to walk back to the house and give my buddy owlbait a call and see if he would like to help trail this buck he says sure ill be over in a few minuutes we easilly followed the trail the 40 yrds to the deer this is not the biggest buck ive taken with trad gear but im proud of him being my first longbow buck taken with a hoots longbow 49# @ 30 i draw 30 kanati slim jim quiver full length gt 55-75 with a 100 grn brass insert + a 125grn 2 blade snuffer thanks for listening to my ramblings kevin
