Ok first I have to say I am no expert at this and am still experimenting each time I do it.First I prep the shafts the same as with normal crown and then I get Humbrol brand paint made for painting models.I cut the top off a large plastic drink bottle and fill it with warmish water with a couple of spoons of borax in it.Put justa couple of drops of paint of each colour on the surface of the water and slowly spred it around with a nail or small stick to give you a swirly pattern. The amount of paint is trial and error and I always seem to put to much in first up.Now I have a few practice sticks with the base coat on to do some trial dips to get the paint thickness right. Now the SECRET part is dip the shaft in nice and slow turning it as it goes in until it is deep as it need to go but then stop dont pull it out yet or you will make a big mess.Blow gentley on the surface of the water so the paint moves away from the shaft and THEN pull it out of the water and flick the water off.As I said have a play on some scrap before you put your good shafts in but be warned it is addictive. Any questions just ask. Cheers KIM
