Being a Hill shooter only, not so familiar w/other makes/models. Didn't know Bob (Sarrels) made r/d bows but have spoken w/him several times to compliment his excellent work & customer service. Very fine Christian man I'd highly recommend also. Guess Maddog Mike Mecredy makes r/d too? Just a big bunch of quality choices.

Another vote for the BamaBows Expedition. This is the Hunter model.

One thing that you might consider is checking out some of your area bowyers. Ron Foley is I believe from Tx. and he makes and nice bow. I am in the middle of Ks. and I have a couple of Wild Horse Creek bows with another one being made. It`s nice to be able to work with the maker and have some personal touches, such as picking out the exact peice of wood etc. Mike is in northeast Ks. and it`s not that out of the way to go visit and have him do the final fitting to my hand until it`s just the way I want. I hope you enjoy this process, beats one from K-Mart.

The Foley bows I have seen are exceptionally nice.
Iam going to second the Sasquatch. That bow sings. It is super fast. Perhaps the fastest, quiet and shock free. Kirk is a supurb bowyer that takes the time to perfectly hand time and tune every bow before it leaves the shock. They are a pleasure to shoot. They are available at a base price. Also the base bow will be made exactly like the most expensive bow . If you really want a hunter then that would really shine.

God bless you, Steve

I'm still gonna say the Sarrels Blueridge takedown longbow. Bob is in Austin and you can try many at his shop.

What may be a gem in my hands may actually be something totally undesireable in yours.

Try before you buy if at all possible.

Absolutely, it's all about the grip. A good shooter can shoot just about any bow well enough to kill, but even for them there will be that "special" bow

I am a Black Widow guy and could go the rest of my life without ever shooting anything else. I absolutely love my PLX longbow. It's fantastic.

But... I have become interested in Kirk's (Bigfoot) bows lately. Never shot one, never seen one shot, never seen one in person. BUT, Kirk clearly knows a lot about how to make a cutting-edge trad bow. I read a lot of his posts. And a lot of guys are clearly pleased with the bows he's made for them. I will probably buy another BW someday... but I want to try a Sasquatch first!
