I just got my secound Blacktail 62in 51@261/6(I shoot 271/5) an real shooter but I'm trying to quiet her down. Shoots fantastic at 71/2 brace w the d-97 string(and tried a b-50) but not as quite as I would like, with a little vibration - I've tried higher brace and wool balls, beaver balls any advise is welcomed [archer2] -

That's a beauty of a bow. If limb alignment looks ok (string tracks normally in string grooves when drawn) and arrow spine is acceptable then some other areas to check would be: yup, nock point height (especially if you shoot three under you may need higher); brace height (check bowyer range recommendation, otherwise head up 1/8" at a time and test/repeat); and silencer placement (location, location, location). If still loud try a different string, some bows are more finicky than others re string material and/or # of strands. Lastly, watch your release and follow-through. A bit of a pluck can turn quiet into twangy. Good luck!

I think your brace height is pretty close to right. It wont hurt to slowly bump it up and see if it helps a tad.

My 64 inch one piece was closer to 8 inches BH.I shot a few different strings on it including a 450 plus and B-50 that were fatter strings.I replaced those with a 8 strand Astroflight with built up loops and it shot quieter and sweeter.I also shot about a 600 grain arrow. It was a CX Heritage 250 cut to 31 inches with 200 grains up front. The bow was 50#s at 29 and I draw 30 inches.I used Bow Hush wool silencers on it and wrapped the string ends in bowhush as well where they slap against the string grooves.

The bow was quiet and shot beautifully.

Try a D-10 or Astroflight 8-10 strand string with built up loops and wool puffs.Oliver Stacy a Trad Gang Sponser builds a nice string and so does SBD.I think you will do better and if possible try a heavier arrow as well.I believe you will see an improvement in feel, vibration, speed and quietness as well.I did.

It does not hurt to try a bow quiver as well and see if that helps.

I looked at my brochure Norm sent me and the recommended brace height for a 62" Blacktail take down recurve is 7 1/4"- 7 1/2".

Both of my Blacktails came with rubber catwhiskers and I thought both of my Blacktails were a little noisy upon arrow release.

I changed out the rubber catwhiskers on both bows and replaced them with a pair of home made wool yarn puffs and they instantly become quiet.

I also shoot a D-97 bowstring on both bows.

D 97 is difficult on Blacktails. Try something else. I have a very quiet 450+ ts1 but I cant get the d97 to be quiet.

Ok I took my son's bow string from his Appalichain Savage river 62in 55@28 16 strand B-50 with cat wiskerballs and put it on, the Blacktail stopped [bigsmyl] singing just need some yarn on the loop ends(bow hush) and we're hunting [archer] quiet! [archer2]

Very nice bow [Smile]
Regarding silencing try this:
Measure the stringlength from where the string meets the limb on each side.
Divide that length with four and measure from each side where the string meets the limb and put om some hush puppies there. If the bow still is to load, then do the same but divide with three [Smile]

Best of luck with your new bow!

B-50 will not help, actually tests show it is louder on most bows. I shot a 62" BT for quite a few years and it was quietest at 7-3/4"s and a set of wool silencers and a little bit of velcro just at the start of the string grooves. Also never had a problem with D-97 on any of my bows being noisey! Shawn
