I have only ever got to share camp once with fellow traditional hunters. It was a deer camp in Missouri. I am planning and looking to put together a spring bear hunt in NW Montana It will be a spot and stalk hunt. My wife will be coming with. She is not sure she wants to shoot a bear yet, as this will be her first bow hunt but she loves the outdoors and I am happy she has taken up traditional shooting. We would like to get four to six hunters to share camp with and if you are a husban wife couple that would be great or maybe if you have a young hunter that you would like to bring that would be great also. I have not set any dates yet but we where planing to go over for a week tags are over the counter. but you have to take a bear test from fish and game before you can buy a tag. If you would be interested let me know. Thanks

Gary, I am from Missouri. I have never hunted bear, but have been thinking about it. Probably should do a guided hunt first to get the hang of it.
Anyway, What is the bear test all about? I have hunted deer for 30 years, so am not new to bowhunting, just new to hunting bear.

The test is for identification. They have pictures of both black and grizzly bear photos and you have to identify what species. Trip sounds like fun. Scott

Dave Scott is right Montana makes you pass the test to make sure you can tell them a part. this hunt will consist of hiking looking for sign and glassing when the bears are found thats when the stalk begins. Bears have poor eye sight but very good noses In my opinion they are not to hard to get close to as long as you have the wind.
