I have a d97f string , bowyer said I needed to pad the loops , so I wrapped them with b-50 , is that right?

How many strands is your string made from? When padding loops on a flemish string you simply cut extra strands to be twisted in around the nock area.

its I think a 16 strand? I do not understand what you mean though????

The "extra" strands that James speaks of are to be added to the loops while the string is being made and tapered and twisted into the loops like the main string material. After it is finished, the padding can't be added in this manner without taking apart the string.....not sure if there is another way. 16 strands of D97 is a fairly large diameter string already, and shouldn't need padded unless you're trying to quiet it down a bit. Did the bowyer say why he thought that you needed to pad the loops?

If your string is a flemish twist, made of 16 strand d97 string, you do not need to add any more to the loops. 14 to 16 stands, in the loops of a flemish twist d-97, is a plenty,imo.
If it's a continuous loop string, you would want to serve the loops, if for some reason they weren't served to begin with.

Padding the loops acts like a cushion, spreading the force of the shot out over a wider area in the string groove. A really thin loop is more apt to cut into the groove, just like a really thin string is more apt to cut your hand.
