Need some recommendations for a recurve bow. I have shot compound for years and broke the old 35# browning recurve out. Shot this one for years as a kid but now i need something i can hunt with. was looking at some of the samicks. Are they any count? looked at sage, red stag, deer hunter, and phantom. Looking for something around $200. Like to have 45ish lbs at 26". thanks for any help

I've seen and shot some of the Samicks and they are good bows. I like vintage bows and would buy one of those before one of the Samicks. Bear Kodiak Hunter or Grizzly's, Browning's, and Pearsons can be had for that kind of money and would be my choice.

arrowslinger22 x2. And the nice thing is you can always get your money back out of the vintage stuff. It does not depreciate

I have not looked at samicks myself but you may not be able to find 45@26; 50@28 will be pretty close and likely what you will find. Personally I agree with the above recommendations especially older or used Bears 50@28.

Fwiw...I'm new to trad as well and got a good deal on a Samick Deermaster. It's quiet enough, fast enough and had the one requirement for me that the vintage Bears etc didn't have (in my price range) it's a take down. For what I pd for it used, i have no problems entertaining the idea of doing a little sanding and shaping to make it look even better.

Keep a close eye on the classifieds right here. There are some really good deals. You just need to have a fast draw!
