My close by turkeys haven't been cooperating, so this morning I decided to see if a mountain bird would give me a chance. They evidently didn't get the memo, either, so the morning hunt turned into a nice hike/stumpshoot. The mountain morning was clear and bright after a day of rain yesterday. The streams are running pretty heavy, and the sound of the rushing water was soothing. A few stumps got in the way of my arrows; the spring flowers are just starting to show up at this elevation.
Although no birds were seen, it was a morning well spent.

Nice pics, Pat. That first photo makes me long to be in the Bighorns again this Fall, but maybe next year...You certainly live in a beautiful part of the West. Good luck with the birds.

swp, I started out around 6000', ended up around 7500'. Hiked on a nice forest service trail for a lot of the morning. Not all of it was on a trail, however.
