Hello,

used this lovely Sunday morning to get out there, shoot some arrows, explore and enjoy nature in full bloom.

Thers an old lake i used to hike around with my dad in days gone past and i wanted to see how it looked like nowadays. 10 years ago there were some well used hiking-trails around it, but as people in general seem to loose interest in wilder places around here i was completely by myself. Apart from the normal signs of logging there wasnt any sign of other people around, wich is very special for my part of the world (except for one, well come to that later...).

Anyways, enough boring words here are some pics to let you come along if you like:

Carps cruising the shallows, the biggest ones were about 10#:

What was that in the middle of the deep forest?
I would love to roam a place like that with a bow. You are a lucky satyr. [Razz]

Our buzzards don't have stripedy feathers. I think in Europe they call buteo-type hawks buzzards. I could be wrong, though. your post has many fine pictures, and I wish I could have tagged along.

Killdeer,

thats a wooden fountain at a well where the whole water for the stream and the lake come from.

Youre right about the buzzards, We call hawk-like birds "Bussard", mixed that up in my mind.

This is correct. The Common Buzzard is a Buteo. Early settlers in the americas misidentified vultures from a distance, calling them "buzzards" and the name stuck.

Looks like a nice place for a walk.
