I am new to traditional archery. I have ordered a recurve from Quinn Archery here in Houston. I ordered a 62" 45# There were 2 other options at 60" and 64" I simply wasnt sure so I took the middle ground. I have been told by a couple others that I should make it the 64". Any advice or suggestions? I ordered the Quinn as I have heard nothing but good about them. The wait time was a little out there but I thought it may be worth it. Would the 2 extra inched be better for me just starting out? THanks for the input in advance.

There are advantages and disadvantages to most differences in bows. I think you will be very happy with the 62"...

Many archers choose length of bow based on draw length. I only draw 27 1/4" and shoot a 58".

Good luck.

Welcome to Tradgang! You will probably be set up very well with the Quinn bow you have ordered.I have bows from 56" to 62" and prefer 58" to 62" because they seem to be a little more forgiving of errors.

Welcome from Kentucky!

What's you traditional draw length? I like shorter bows for hunting. Unless you have a 30+" draw either will be fine. Go with the 64"er if so.

My draw length is 28" with a compound. I will be going to a shop to check it out for trad. I have read that it could shorten an inch? and then that it will be the same, so I thought I would go and get "fitted" to make sure.

act like you are drawing a bow. Hold a tape in your grip hand and measure from your farthest grip knuckle to the corner of your mouth. That will get you close enough for this purpose. Let us know what you got.

Trad is a good place to be. David started making his bows long ago. Looks like you;re fixed up. If you;re having fun, you'll know.

Welcome! Yup, draw length usually determines bow length and what will be most comfortable for you. I'd say 60" or 62" recurve will fit most shooters well and be plenty smooth... [campfire]

If you draw 28" on a compound then your draw will be 1.5-2"shorter with trad equipment,at that draw you would be fine in the 62" bow.
Welcome to the family, hope you enjoy the ride!
