Going on first Black Bear hunt in Maine this august. Hunting from a ground blind over bait. What would YOU do differently this time?

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Don't bring bug spray. Bring a therma cell. Also, use a very comfortable chair. Movement will give you away quickly. Get a leafy suit or a ghillie (depending on how hot/cold) it is. I would build a natural blind instead of a pop up. They get real suspicious about pop ups. Make sure your arrow makes NO NOISE when you draw it and that your tab or glove is also quiet. I had a Texas 12 pointer bolt on me when my tab "squeeked". Be patient and as scent free as possible. Rubber boots and don't touch anything unless you are wearing gloves. Good luck. One day i will get one from the ground.

Hey Monk, are you going the 1st or 2nd week? I'll be there the 1st week. Exactly what Bill Carlsen said.....THERMACELL!!

You're going to have a blast. Tony will bend over backward to put you on a bear. Good Luck
