Hope to be getting a recurve soon and starting to rehab/build up my shoulder and was curious as to what's your favorite arrow rest/side plate material.

Velcro on my t/d's, leather on my one pieces. That is how I get them from my bowyer, and I keep them "stock".
I have used seal skin in the past, works well, but velcro is cheap and easy to come by.

Seal skin for the rest, calf hair for the side plate. When I run out of seal skin I am not sure what I will go to. I have had several used bows that came with velcro. Works well and holds up, but seems hard on the feathers.

I find velcro wears out way too fast on my rest, so I use calfhair on my rest and leather for a side plate.

I have been using moose leather. Its thick and very soft and a little "spongy". I cut a piece to fit and attach it with the suede side out. It's very quiet and durable. I bought a small scrap at a leather store.
