I finally got to watch my copy of Essential Encounters that I ordered a month or so ago. Wow!!! The Mittens and Wensels really put out a great video on this one!!! The videography is superb!!! The subject content is very enjoyable too!!! Primal Dreams by the M's and W's was very nice, but I think that they increased my viewing enjoyment with Essential Encounters by 11 fold!! Bowhunters, nature lovers, and animal lovers need this DVD in their collection!!! Great job guys!!!!!! BTW, I received my DVD two days after ordering it. I don't know how they shipped it that fast

Thanks for the review. Haven't seen it yet, but if better than Primal Dreams I'll have to buy!

I just saw this and want to thank everyone for the positive comments. It's true you can't please everyone. We had many people say PD was the best hunting video they'd ever seen. And we had others say it didn't have enough hunting in it. In EE, we wanted to maintain a similar format to PD by keeping away from the common hunting film obscenities, yet we wanted to show more actual bowhunting. The general consensus is we achieved those goals. With five avid bowhunters all carrying cameras/bows fulltime for five seasons we were blessed to capture many outstanding and rare scenes. All the footage is free ranging wildlife in their natural habitat. You'll also notice we have no sponsors or paid endorsements. These ventures are offered in hopes of passing on proper attitudes for the betterment of the future of hunting.Thanks. BW

A truly great movie ... Its one of maybe two films that I would confidently and proudly show non hunters as an embodiment of the "whats" & "why's" of archery hunting .

Thanks again for the kind words. I've been getting stronger every day and my prognosis is good. In fact, I'm speaking at the QDMA national banquet in Nashville this next week (Aug. 9-12th.) Mike Mitten will be helping me man our booth too. If anyone is in the neighborhood please stop by and say hello. Meanwhile, stay close to the A/C. Thanks. BW

The last few photos is what I had in mind when I wrote the poem "Romancing the Bow" which concludes our Essential Encounters film. Also, please check out the bonus features supplied on the second disc. Many of the stories told there will soon be lost. Thanks for the kind words, Mike

I have to pipe in on this one. Last year, I started a new relationship with my girlfriend. Shes somewhat of a "city" girl who had never been around hunting. She read an artical by Jason Wesbrock and whatched both Primal Dreams and Essential Encounters, and came away with a little bit better understanding of who I am as a person, as well as a hunter. I think for many of us, its a breath of fresh air, and a break from the shows where they use a lot of gadgets!
