I`ll be moving soon to a larger city and my chances for shooting like Barb and I used to shoot are slim.Somehow the woods here suddenly feel empty and hollow, trails once walked by two are now walked by one.The sounds of someones laughter in the woods is no more, special places visted in the woods is like opening a wound.Barb saw bad in very few people, she could always see good in someone. She made no daily plans she just took the day as it came and made it a joy to be with her.She was outspoken, bold, brash and told it as she saw it.Your right Doc I did know her heart better than anyone,I knew her soft loving side.I also seen the side of her she kept hidden from people. Was she really the same in real life as she was online, you bet she was.Barb was an original.

I feel your pain, Rick .... but it is, never the less, a pain made of treasures, and someday ...someday in the future only the treasures will be left. I've often thought about this (cause I almost lost Rose once)and I still don't know what I would do without her, if it came right down to it. In the end we all do what we must do. Thanks for sharing your pain...and your treasures with us.

All that you say, and what Bernie has reiterated, are so true.

It is unimaginable just now, through the veil of pain and heartache...but those trails, that laughter will again accompany you through daily life. It seems impossible now, I'm sure. By the time we hit mid-life, most of us have lost some close... maybe not the quality of relationship you shared with Barb, but painful losses that has left a hole in most of our lives.

From the other side of that, I can only assure you that it does get better. I believe that Barb will not leave you alone. She is in the wind still...and will be there in another way for you, when you're ready.

Peace brother.

Thank you Dano,I`ve decided to have Barb`s dog put down friday. Her hips are all but gone and I think she misses Barb and knows something is wrong. She hardly eats and has lost alot of weight and can hardly get around.Problem is how do I get her into my truck without hurting her or having her bite me.I swear why me,Lord why me.Every light I`ve seen at the end of the tunnel comes with a train whistle.I`ve had my knees buckled a few times in life but never like this, just once I`d like something positive to happen.

Hi Rick...Our Rottie has bad hips...arthritus..we had to take her to the vet last week..she weighs now about 100 pounds...we lured her into the truck...(the small S10) with American Cheese her favorite...we had to talk her in she got the front end in and we had to help her the rest of the way. Maybe if she has a favorite treat you could do the same thing.

My Rottie...Josie..is now on cordisone and is feeling much better.

Her hips may be gone but her mouth is full of teeth that work very well if I hurt her.

Hello Rick, I'm Muz, I just want to let you know that since Barbs passing, that I've asked the Great Spirit to bless you and watch over you during your healing, It is very hard losing a loved one. I shed a tear everytime I think of that wonderful woman. I don't know if their is any places to buy Sagebrush for smudging(praying)if not I will send you some, as I believe this will help you in the pain that you and Barb's other best friend are feeling.
I come back to the TGang for a visit every now and then and to me it's empty without Barb, and I'm sure everyone here feels the same way, but with this FAMILY you will always have our support.
May The Great Spirit Be With YOU. AHO

Rick,
Ask your veterinarian if he has something you could slip her in a treat that will make her groggy or kill the pain for atleast the time it takes to get her to the clinic. Other option would be to see if there are any mobile vets in your area that could come to your house.
By the way, they can do total hip replacements for dogs now [Smile]

Sounds like a plan to me - Back when we used to raise show cats in Hawaii we had one big Tom we had to "pill out" every time we wanted to groom him - it works.

Asking the vet to make a house call does not seem like a bad idea. If the vet who has been giving care to the pooch for all the mundane stuff over the years knew the circumstances, he or she would likely be inclined to pay a visit. It is worth asking, at any rate.

You get my letter?
