A spin off from Ron's thread. Maybe should be on the Shooters Forum but the point is old guys that have been around a long time still shoot at targets (compete) and still have fun. Here's my group at Chester, TX a few weeks back. Dang, I can't remember all the names (help me out guys) but a great bunch of Archers.
Retired Police Officer.
This guy has been around the block several times.
My Buddy Mike Brown. He's the youngest one but has been shooting and hunting with traditional equipment for a long time.
Danny Long (Ric O'Shay). He's older than me and still breathing. Cheats at 3-D by using a Jack Howard and 2114's. Just kidding....this ole boy can out shoot most folks using a bent stick and a rubber band ;-)
Another old timer....Bill Turner. He's a danged Major of a big city!
And me. I still like to compete even though I can never beat myself much less anyone else ........Van

I reckon only the old Duffers in Texas can still hold out for target shootin.

Second man up is Bill Wray. He has slung more arrows then most of us in all types of settings. A regular at Chester. Right now heading to CO to get out of the Texas heat. Take my word for it, Danny and Van are tough to shoot with. Van is always looking for broken arrows and Danny is always looking for opportunities to provide them. The Mayor has spoken. Thanks Bill for the name. I just can't seem to remember names very well. Bill Wray was quite a character. Can you answer Wooducks's question? I know it weren't no Pearson, (Now that I look at it again, maybe it was a Pearson)
Mck is right but Danny don't look all that bad when he cleans up ....Van

McK - Priorities be the name of the game.....
Van - Do you really mean that or you just toying with my affections?
Bill - You only said that about me and Van because it true.

We've got a group of senior archers down here too that have a great time. A couple of gents in their 70's that shoot lights out. Bob Wartenburg has won at the NFAA nationals a couple of times, always a treat when he walks on the range.

FLHunter - Despite all the banter, we all had a great time. Actually, we had more fun being together, making wise cracks and in general laughing.....a lot than we did actually shooting!
Well, there was a couple of exceptions, McK and Rick decided they needed to shoot four different classes. That gave them a total of 160 targets for the shoot. Them boys had serious shooting on their minds!
