I just want to thank everybody for the respect that is shown here. There are a few lemons, but where people congregate, there always will be, that's unavoidable (not saying that that sort of behaviour/attitude is excused or somehow expected). The respect I talk of seems to be all around tradgang, and going both ways. I see a lot of respect for those among us who have been around a bit longer and have more experience, but I also see a lot of respect for those of us who are new to this game. I am very young and very inexperienced, and yet I have experienced almost nothing but respect from this great bunch of people. I haven't earned this respect from my experiences, it just seems to be freely given. Many people, in many places, would tend to look down upon, and perhaps think a bit lower of young people, simply because of their age. I haven't seen or experienced that here.

Thank you one and all, yound and old

(I hope this came out the way I wanted it to)

I'm 59 and still learn at least one thing each day. Sometimes from folks born in 1980.

Problem is I forget at least 2 things per day. By the time I get old I'll be dumber than dirt [Big Grin] ....Van

Biggie;

Yeah, it's a bugger having to work with the written word. What is it the scientists say, eighty percent of communication is non-verbal?

In that light, we may be doing pretty well, running on 20% of capacity. [Wink]

Y'all make me just smile... [Wink]

when I started hanging on the "other" trad forum, and would ask questions 8 years ago, there were those self-appointed "experts" who would literally call me stupid etc... It wasn't pretty, but I persevered.

I won't even go on my home state bowsite...the antagonism is just unfettered and rediculous. Having that said, I know many folks who have met some of the worst name calling, rebel rousin, miscreants who posted on other forums and say "they're the nicest people you'd ever wanna meet--in person!" Go figure!! [Eek!]

In reading the many good posts here, I suspect that the above observation that many who come across poorly in the inet forums might not realize how things read---well, SOUND as another reads them. Ya think? [Confused]

I know I've thought things I've posted were absolutely hilarious, only to find when I read my own post as it came up, it was anything but clear I was trying to be humerous.

One thing this forum has (if others do, I don't konw as I've not been there in over 2 years) that others may not is the "edit" button and the gremelins...Edit seems to allow for a "second chance" to get it straight one you hit "add reply" and one finds it just doesn't come across well. I think the quickness of keyboard replies lends it'self to this probelm as Penny stated.

Biggy brings up good points as have many others about respect being a 2 way street. I can't remember (age thing [Roll Eyes] ) who said that one can be "respectful" in their reply without respecting the person or their view.

What I love the most, I think, is that we can get to banterin...callin each other a hoss thiefin scallywag [Big Grin] [scared] and it's all in such good fun... I've made some of the best friends of my life right here on the internet through trad archery forums--- yeah...even the "other" one.

Thanks to Terry, Lance, Rob and the ton of work done by the moderators in helping keep this site respectful while we all work through learning about ourselves, each other and the wonderously diverse world of trad archery.

Thanks guys

"By the time I get old..."

What's really sad is when a person reaches a point in their life and don't even realize they're there. Maybe that's a blessing, eh Van? [bigsmyl]

Biggie ,
read this whole thing through and one thing no one mentioned or pointed out was and i could be wrong but Dano, Biggie said we was OLD !! [Wink]

i come to this site a few times a day to see what is going on and i have a great deal of respect for those who have been doing what i want to do for such a long time and before all the renewed interest in Trad archery .

now i have learned things from those older and have learned stuff from those who are younger .

i always have considered myself a bowhunter i run the woods with my bow never successfully . i learned things from Jsog , Lance and JC this past year and that is to be a successfull bow hunter you need to kill things ( everyone says yes we kill stuff) but what i am saying and not to well is you have to have the mental ability to kill and also kill thing which will give you this ability !!
yes age should give everyone an amount of respect or at least if you dissagree with them to do it RESPECTFULLY.-- herb -- dam i feel old - thanks Biggie for reminding me [Big Grin] -- i will be 52 in Dec .

I was raised to treat everyone with respect until they showed me a reason not to respect them. I have always found something I can learn everyday, and I dont care how old the person is I learn from.

Dan Quillian is building my longbow and he gives his number to anyone who buys one. I called and talked with him for about 45 mins. a couple of weekends ago. I would give anything to sit around a campfire with him and just listen.

Age makes no difference on either side of this subject. We have several examples of the younger gen here that show there is hope. And I know ofmore than a couple of the "older" people here in my home town that just make me shake my head in disgust. But I am proud of the fact that I frequent this forum and associate with the riffraff here. I am PROUD to be RIFFRAFF!!!!!!!!

Van, you're only 59?

How'd you get 000-00-0003 for your SSN?

Nothing wrong with being called stupid, Doc. Sure takes the pressure off. Get's you out of work, too.

My brother? Now he's the smart one. [Wink]

Hey Doc, I've heard you called a lot of things, but never stupid. Oh Yeah, I heard never to call you late for dinner either.

Good to hear from you again. Remember Whittingham when we sat up to the wee hours pondering life and our dads. Mine has started the downhill slide. I'm afaraid he won't be with us long. I hope yours is doing better. Hope to see you again, I'll fill you in.

By the way...there are an awful lot of old farts running around here. I'm glad I have stocks in Geretol. If the young ones have no idea what Geretol is.....then man they are young.
