Good grief! I think I've learned more today than I wanted to know. Hopefully tomorrow I'll forget some of it.

I was always taught to respect my elders, which thankfully this site gives me ample opportunity to practice. Some of you are older than my father. [tunglaff]

Good topic you big redneck!!Lack of respect is everywhere not just with bowhunters. I believe it`s to do with the way folks are raised and words before thought.I was raised by my Grandparents the old fashined way.I was taught to respect my elders and anyone else for that matter if I agreed with them or not and if not to keep my mouth shut. The keeping the mouth shut is what has got me in trouble a few times but I think I`m growing out of it. 44 year old RC.
Where did you get the hinge takedown you had on the bow when we shot together? I want one.RC

As a youngster who grew up without a father in the house, I had no choice but to respect my elders. My mom would flat beat the tar out of me for being disrespectful to anyone let alone one of my elders.
But I think I owe most of what I learned about respect and just life in general to my late grandfather. He was an outdoorsman, a philosopher (of Larry the cable guy sort)if you know what I mean, and a man that I looked up to for guidance in good times and bad. I think of that man daily and named my youngest son after him, although unfortunately they never met. I keep a picture of him in my office to remind myself of the man I would hope to be compared to in my later years.
I could only suggest to the youngsters of this day and age that someday they too will be one of the old guys they find so easy to dismiss!

Some of my underwear is older than some of the fellows posting on this site.

Having said that, however, I like your post Biggie. Not because I always think older folks are necessarily wiser, but because we owe each other respect and common decency. I've been following a thread on another site where some folks (one in particular - a real dipsh*t) can't offer an opinion without being a complete flaming a**hole. It doesn't matter if you're old or young - we owe everyone respect and the right to be treated with common decency.

A wise fellow I know fairly well said that lots of stupid people die every day of old age. Some folks go through life having done one thing 1000 times, and others have done 1000 things at least once. Who has learned more?

The person who has tried different things and has learned from them is the person I want to listen to. And I don't care if he/she is young enough to be, well, younger than me.

My warmest appreciation to Terry and Lance and Rob who won't allow posters who can't keep a civil tongue in their heads. The TradGang is a much better place because of their management.

John

Agree one hundred percent, John. After spending time on "another" site arguing with a fool over bow/arrow performance, it's a true blessing to retreat to Tradgang and enjoy adult discourse.

I didn't get enough time on the spring hog hunt this year to tell Terry how much I appreciate this site. I will try to do better next year.

I'm more like the old constipated owl with laryngitis; "Can't hoot worth a crap, and can't crap worth a hoot!"

I'm older than Biggie, almost 60, but not near as big. Been at this a long time and still learn something new everyday. I do know that Mr. Biggie Hoffman has a large heart, and a lot of woods smarts as well. Lots of good ol' guys here. Respect should always be the order of the day.
