Ive recently had some odd pain in the ring finger of my draw hand. I shoot 3 under and wear a glove. I had been playing with split shooting a little but ultimatly went back to 3 under. I noticed a while back my ringer finger had developed a callous like a guitar player will get. I normally have a deep hook but the other day tried pulling a new bow heavier draw weight and I had pain shoot all the way up my arm. Went to a shallow grip a little closer to the tips and things were better. Has anyone else experienced this or maybe know what it is? I shoot alot and as often as possible. New bow is about 7 lbs heavier but noticed with both bows now. Any information is helpful. Thanks in advance.

I've had trouble with this too. Take a few weeks off until the pain/numbness recede. You may have a high elbow on your draw arm, which will place more pressure on your ring finger. Your arms should be pretty close to 3 and 9 o'clock. If that checks out, make sure you aren't torqing the string ( twisting from the wrist). If that checks out, try putting less pressure on the ring finger when you draw. Finally, try shooting for shorter periods. A two hour shooting session is fun, but probably not very productive and can lead to repeditive motion injuries. Just my $0.02.

Thanks. I believe it is a torque issue. Ive started shooting with a deeper hook and more of a rotational draw. Seems like I am keeping equal pressure on each finger. I'm also trying to make sure I pull thru on my release. The pain is gone but there is still a little numbness. I have cut back greatly. Thanks again.

I crushed my hand Decembers 2010 and have a titanium incased bones in my hand. There are times no matter what weight bow I pull that it is absolutley painful. I have had to change from a deep hock to a shallow hook.
