50 meter calibration, not *too* much wind. Every now and then, I can actually keep my groups *inside* those targets.
Here's the kind of target faces I'll be facing at the Gator Cup starting Friday at 50 and 30 meters. These are 80 cm, 6-ring individual targets, nowhere as forgiving as the standard 10-ring 80 cm target. I still get the full 122 cm target face at 60 and 70 meters though. I'm really looking forward to seeing how much damage a longbow and relatively huge arrows can do this weekend, even if I know I'm doing the equivalent of going into a gun-fight with tae kwon do training!

You may not win the gunfight, but I'm sure you will show the other shooters that sights and/or wheels are not necessary to make a decent score if your willing to put in the time to practice. Good Luck and I'm sure you'll do us proud!

Thanks guys I'm super-excited about this shoot and am looking forward to just having a lot of fun regardless of what the wind wants to do with my arrows... and hanging out with friends I don't get to see anywhere except for shoots like these!

Things went extremely well even if the 50 meters whooped my hiney big-time and I had a bit of trouble establishing my gap for the lower right target at 30 meters. I finished the shoot with a 762/1440, which may've gotten me last in women's recurve, but it made a few of the Olympic recurve folks a little uneasy knowing that someone with a longbow wasn't *that* far behind them. I did beat someone in the men's recurve division though! I shot a personal best at 70 and 60 meters, 183 and 211 respectively, both out of 360.
It was a really fun and challenging shoot. I even made one of the resident Olympic archers from San Diego CA work to actually eliminate me on the first elimination round this morning! All in all, I'd love to do this again!
I Robin Hooded my own arrow at 30 meters. I didn't realize why my arrow bounced out of the target until one of my target-mates showed me the dead arrow.
