The Sunshine State Games are coming up on June 11-12. For $30 you can have a full weekend of shooting. Events you can choose from include the FITA target round (Newberry, 11th), 900 (Newberry, either day), field (Gator Bowmen in Gainesville, 11th), and 3D (Gator Bowmen in Gainesville, 12th). Last I recall, you don't need membership in FAA or NFAA or NAA to shoot in these. I haven't shot the Sunshine State Game field or 3D but I can personally say that the FITA and 900 rounds are awesome. Field at Gator Bowmen in general is also really great too so I have a pretty good feeling about it. I will be shooting the FITA and 900 myself.
Anyone interested in providing me with company? It gets a bit lonely being one of the very few barebow shooters who doesn't string-walk!

Sunshine games is where I had my first taste of field archery..... probably about 13 or 14 years ago. I will put it on my calendar, but lately I have been having issues with trying to plan stuff.

900 for grownups is 60, 50, and 40 yards regardless of age or gender.
FITA is a bit more complicated. Male 50+ (I think you're in here): 90, 70, 50, 30 meters Female 50- and Male 50+: 70, 60, 50, 30 meters Female 50+: 60, 50, 40, 30 meters
Kids also shoot closer up, don't know off the top what they shoot but a 10 year old sure as heck isn't shooting 70 meters!
Hope to see you there!

Sunshine State FITA (833/1440) and 900 (676/900) were a huge success! I think we had some trad shooters "stolen" by the field and 3D shoots (the bigger trad magnet it seems) at Gator Bowmen though. There was still a reasonably good trad turnout at both target events -- a grand total of 6 of us for the 900, including 2 little ones under 18.
The two trad females at the end of the 900 round at 40 yards. We're both shooting "logs", with me shooting the black 'n' blue fletching. Hopefully I've convinced her and her family to check us out at TBoF!
