Tks for the info Jason. Lord willing, I'll be there.
Have the powers to be made any modification/rule adjustments, for 2010, on the paper target course? It seems many folks get "confused" as to where they should be standing... or moving to after each shot.
Respectfully, David

Yeah, we took a lot of your suggestions from last year to heart and are putting them into effect. A lot of guys complained that the full field course was too long, in combination with everything else we have going on down here. The committee met last week and we are going to shorten the field portion to 14 targets instead of the full 28 and there will be an instruction sheet printed up for each individual target. Hopefully cut down on some of the confusion. We are also going to set out an additional course of animal, 3-D and paper targets for play/practice. More in the works. I will post on it when we get everything finalized.

What I saw was confusion... on the part of many as to where they were expected to stand/position themselves in order to loose the arrow... NOT the length of the course. (Some groups were much closer than other groups. And then, the question came up... do you stay in just one spot or go left to right (at various targets).
Either way... life goes on. Your club puts on a pretty neat shoot!

I've been training all through the off-season for the marathon field course! I'm all for keeping it at the full 28 targets. It took 2 months for my shoulder to heal after all the shooting at STAR last year, but I can't wait to do it all over again. Keep up the great work. We'll see you in June.

I 2nd the vote for all 28 field targets. For me, it's like going back in time when my dad was young...that's all they shot was the 28 target field range. They also shot all the way back to the 80 yard stakes.

Our plan is though to set up a 10 target fun course on the other side of the road. The road you come in on. We are going to open that up Friday night to the Campers and the Cool Springs Gang as long as I can sit around the fire with you guys and enjoy a cigar!!
What we were planning on doing is for those that want to shoot 28, the 14 course spits you right back out at target number 1, Hit them again.

We are trying our best to make it user friendly for everyone. I know that a lot of guys come in just to shoot the field course and don't really care if they turn a score card in. But we did have a bunch of complaints about it being just too much, especially for those who tried to get it all in on one day. 28 targets just wore them out and then they still had a toughman and 3-D course to shoot.
I remember when I first got in from college in 1980. 3-D wasn't on the scene then and field courses were the only game in town. Our annual and the state shoot both consisted of shooting 28 field plus 28 animal on Saturday and then another 28 hunter on Sunday. That was a lot of shooting in one weekend. I can remember several Saturdays back then when several of us would load up and head out to one club to shoot a field course that morning and then drive to another that afternoon.
We will do our best to put on a shoot that has something for everyone and is enjoyable for everyone. I can guarantee you one thing, come to the S.T.A.R. and you will definitely get all the shooting you will want.

Paper animal targets? Naaaaaaaa, so do what you will with that; however, and for whatever reason, the Field Archery course... well, that's just a blast! Either way... I'll be there. You guys do a great job.
