Is that the same group from a couple years ago Jeff? If so, it's a great bunch of guys and some beautiful country. Not to mention it's Fred Bear's old stomping grounds.

If Don and Rick would be in, it sounds like there is enough interest to start some planning.
Jeff, I'll catch up with you for some location intel, and Mike I'll call you for some of the logistics and "lessons learned" from last year. Thom

I know Canoe Harbor CG (a great place as base camp to pursue trout) and I would be interested in going that week. Need to check in with the majority stockholder and keeper of the calendar. Peter

Yes Mike pretty much the same crew as two years ago, of course we loose one and gain a couple but there is about 6 of us that have been going since 1999.
We would love to hook up with the MLA crew, the camp ground is great the location is great and like I mentioned earlier the deer sign looks good.
I have learned over the years in planning big camps like this the best thing to do is pick a spot set the dates and then play it by ear from there. Because there are just to many variables and to many styles.
Some guys like to get up at dark and don't get back until after dark. Some guys like to sleep in until 9 or 10 go out a few hours come back to camp then go out a few hours in the evening. Some guys don't like to get near a camp fire because of the smell and some guys don't worry about scent at all.
So we found the best thing was to name a place the dates and let it ride from there, each man for themselves. However at dinner time it is always fun to eat togehter and share the days events with one another.
At our camp it only takes a few minutes to become your camp! Sure look forward to seeing you guys up there!

I agree fully with you Jeff. Some VERY good info right there. The only thing we had going againtst us last time was the beautiful weather. Usually not a bad thing, except during hunting season. If I can make the calendar work, I will come along, but I won't know for a couple months yet.

A week of hunting/fishing/camping on the Au Sable sounds awesome to me! I'll put in the vacation request for that week, shouldn't be a problem getting it. Thom

Yeah I don't think it'll be a problem for me either.

Hey Tony, goggle Canoe Harbor State forest camp grounds. It's east of Grayling on 72 south on Canoe River road. The area is called the Mason Track, you can goggle that also.
