Congrats Curt, and Todd!!!!!!!!! Wished I'd made the trip with you guys in the finals. Must have been pretty intense to say the least. Couldn't think if two better guys to be battling for the overall. Congrats to the Hathaway clan, great family, and great shooters for sure. Already looking forward to next year. I have some pics to post, but they are going to have to wait til tomorrow.

Gotcha Curt...I understand...great pics too. I didnt even see your camera.
I have vowed to myself to be better by next year. Shawn, Damon and I might make a weekly or bi-weekly shooting schedule...I think I had a grand total of ten targets for the entire weekend. [Roll Eyes]
Looking forward to more pics...

Wow. What a weekend!
There is no other shoot in the world like the Muzzy shoot. Denton Hill has some pretty country, but even that does not compare to the beautiful setting of the Muzzy shoot. Beautiful open woods with mature trees, soft, grassy undergrowth, old stone walls, and rocks and boulders interspersed throughout the three courses that gently wind their way along the mountainside.

And pressure! I have shot at every type of competition from world level field archery to standing alone in front of hundreds of fellow archers in the Eagle Eye shootoff, and even some pretty intense local 3D shoots.

None can come close to the pressure you feel while shooting one on one at the Muzzy shoot. Every archer with any competitive spirit should experience this shoot at least once [Smile]

Curt, thank you for the kind words. As many know, Curt is quite the archer, hunter, sportsman, taxidermist, etc. etc.-- a role model for our sport.

It was an honor and a pleasure to shoot against him. Every year at the Muzzy shoot we watch as he consistently climbs to the top of the ladder in the recurve division against some tough competition.

He is right when he says this competition means a lot to me. I was pretty emotional at the end, and am grateful beyond words for the opportunity to attend every year. Thanks to Michele and all who work hard to make this such an enjoyable event for all.

I'd also like to proudly state that my sister, Hope Gillette, took 1st place in Women's division (again!), my Brother, Bryan, took 2nd in Longbow (sorry I had to whoop ya, bro), and his son, Brandon took 1st place in Juniors.....even though he is still too young to even be required to be in that division!!

This is what it was all about for me. My 10 year old at the practice range. His first of hopefully many Stump Shoots.

Again congrats to everyone. Those of you who couldn't make it. You really have to try to get to this one. Pictures and words cannot do justice to this shoot..................

Thanks Michelle and her mother and the entire Crew that make this possible.

Great pics and stories guys!!!!!

This event has got to be one of the most unique I've ever attended. It's not just the competition, but the comraderie that sets this shoot apart. The Muzzy is a coveted event, yet the pulling for each other to win is what this shoot is all about. I've just never experienced a competitive event that has been this friendly....It's really just a great group of people.

Thanks Todd...means a lot coming from you bro......

Michele taking care of the future of our sport....

 -

 -

The ladies......Laura Carlson(Bill's way better looking half), 2nd place.......

 -

Hope Gillete(Hathaway),1st place.....

 -

Bill Carlson,2nd place seniors......

 -

Shawn getting his hardware...just a note for folks that aren't familiar with these awards. Shawn got a third in the Tony. This award is for folks that are done with the main competition, but still want to shoot to fill out the weeknd. You go out and take one shot at all 28 targets and the three with the highest accumulative score bring home a trophy........

 -

And his 3rd in the Broken arrow.....This one is also for folks that are out of the main competition, but still want to shoot to win....this is a cool one.......you go out and shoot a 28 target round with a WOOOD ARROW, and try to hit as many as you can(one shot at each target),until you make it all the way thru or your arrow breaks. Whoever ends up with the most hits wins.....

 -

Brian Hathaway...2nd in the longbow......

 -

I don't think there's a finer family of shooters than the Hathaway's......I think you could search far a wide and not come up with a family that could equal them in the traditional circles!!
