The event went great, the IBO people really reached out to us and wanted this to be a success. Rick Welch was there shooting and so were a lot of great shooters. I hope this grows and grows, they are giving us our own shoot and there weren't a lot of people who showed up. There were a lot of vendors there, Wing Nut was there clear from Texas. I got to meet Wing Nut, Mike, and had a great time shooting with him, although I hope next time the results are turned around.LOL. This was the first time I have ever turned in a score card and got to say that it was a lot of fun. It was a very relaxing shoot, the shots were reasonable, if you missed it wasn't the distance it was bad shooting. Would highly recommend this shoot to anyone for fun or for competition.

It was an absolute blast! Highlight of the weekend was me and my group go to shoot the practice course forwards and backwards with Rod Jenkins!
Having picked up his Gap Method from Masters Vol 1, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some great conversation and some great tips courtesy of Mr. Jenkins. Thanks Rod, for a lifetime memory!

Definitely the best run shoot I've ever attended. I can't say enough about Gems City Outdoorsmen friendly and courteous staff and IBO, specifically Levy Bryant, for this classy event. Like wolleybugger said, the courses very fair (and slightly more challenging on Sunday, as it should be) and there wasn't a shot out there that we haven't seen before is some fashion.

Here is a pic of all the Champions in the different classes. The woman on the right is a great story to show what can happen when you participate. Sharon D'Agostino started shooting longbow back in December of '08. She so enjoyed just being around the group of guys I shoot with every Sunday. I bought her an early Christmas present, a #25 bow made by Dave Miller. When we first started talking about this event back in the spring she was reluctant but eventually she decided she would compete just to be a part of the first ever IBO Traditional Championship.
When we registered she just copied our classification, Modern Longbow. We left the registration room and were down near the Pop-Up targets when the official came down to us and asked if she was Sharon. (Her response was "Depends on what I did.") He then pointed out that maybe she made a mistake and would rather register in the Female Longbow class. Then escorted her back to Registration and made the correction on all the paperwork. As it turns out she was the only one to register in that class and now has an IBO World Champion belt buckle. She was initially embarrassed (and still is to some degree) she won by default, but everyone has been telling her she showed up to compete and shot the best she could and she won. Thanks to the IBO staff and their attention to the slightest details to make a major competition run smoothly and be fun. I now have a shooting partner for life and she is more determined to go back next year and "earn it."

Saltydog tell to her to not be embarrassed. It is not her fault that no one else chose to shoot and to wear her buckle proudly.

I have a few questions about Dave Wallace set up. Anyone out there know what his set up is?
Bow quiver? Tab or Glove? Split or 3 under? Poundage? Dacron/FF? Bow length? Arrow? Arrow length?
Previous threads have mentioned that he makes his own "Hill" style bow with a straight grip. I am just interested to see what the new trad world champ is shooting for a setup.

When I talked to him briefly his longbow was a LONGbow 68"+ ? He makes them Hill style. Boo core. No quiver on the bow. It seemed to be over 60#. Can't remember much else. He makes bows in Marrietta Ohio. Oh yea he did have arrows.

Thanks Curt. One arrow got away or it would have been different. I have missed the $%@%#$@(%&^ sheep target twice now at big shoots. Not long shots either. Got a problem there.

Doug S, It was a pleasure meeting you. You're an excellent archer Get that sheep phobia out of your head and I'm sure you will smoke it next year.
