Finally broke the ice for this year and with the new bow. I picked up a new Bear's Paw bow prior to the season starting. What a great shooting bow. But up until now I have not been able to get everything to come together to let the arrow fly at a deer. Well that all changed tonight.
Got out in the stand tonight around 2pm, on a cold windy day. But I was dressed for the long haul. The first deer that came in was a 1.5y/o doe. At first I was going let her walk, but she happen to offer that perfect shot that we all dream of. She stood 12 yards away with a slight quarter away. I watched her for at least a full minute just studying the spot that I wanted the arrow to connect. When she turned her head again I came to full draw. Never taking my eyes off the spot of fur I picked. I let the arrow fly and saw it connect, a perfect double lung. She went about 50 yards before expiring almost in front of my dad, who was in the bottom of the field.
