Below are pictures of the IBO. The group are the 32 top scores in the hunter challenge that got into the shoot off. They went head to head until there was one man standing with a $1000 check donated by the sponsor, Dale Karch of 3Rivers Archery.

Only for compound shooters. At the regular IBO World Championship, the maximum distance is 30 yards for any class shooting traditional equipment. I would assume it's the same for the IBO Traditional World Championship, which is going on now. The rules for the current shoot are not stating maximum distances on the IBO website.

I talked to IBO mid-week about the Traditional Shoot this is concluding today in TN ($30). I was hoping to go but coulnd't justify th 8-hour round trip (I had to do it in one day). The top distance was going to be 30 yards with most shots low 20's or less. You shoot 20 targets on Friday or Saturday to qualify for the championship shoot on Sunday. The local club hosting the shoot also offeres a "Hunters Challenge" range of 20 targets ($10). They were expecting up to 400 shooters.

I can't tell you the winners in ever class but here are some more pictures. The first picture are the names that made it into the 32 man shoot off. Ryan Ramsey won that one for the $1000 by 3Rivers. The one with everyone holding a belt buckle are the IBO World Champions. The little guy in the red shirt is my son, Logan. He won the Hunter Challenge and the IBO Worlds in the Cub division. That is him with Rick Welch as well. I ended up 2nd in the Hunter Challenge and 3rd in the IBO Worlds in the Primitive Class. It was a great weekend in TN for all.

Well, I must say I had a great time at my first IBO shoot. I certainly didn't know what to expect but I had enjoyed it and met some very nice folks from all over the country.
Most that know me know I host the Howard Hill Southeastern Classic and a lot of people that attend my shoot come for the fellowship, family & fun. Some I know, including me, thought that when we hear IBO, we think "Oh my, hard core competitors not having a good time". We couldn't be more wrong. I had the pleasure of shooting the "Hunter's Challenge" course with a few of the top shooters there and I had a wonderful time with them. We all share the love of traditional archery.
The one thing I enjoyed was that the Hunters Challenge was set up as a multi-round format, and if someone didn't want to shoot any of the IBO courses, they didn't have to.
I shot the IBO course, it was set up great and I truly enjoyed it.
Folks, for those of you that think the IBO is the Boogy Man, and you don't think you'd have fun, think again.
I'm looking forward to next year and hope many more of us laid back traditional shooter go. Believe me, they are as laid back as we are.
Thanks Levy, Rod all the IBO Reps. and thanks mostly to Pappy and the Twin Oaks Club for hosting, I had a ball.

I had a ball, even though I shot the worst I have in recent memory. Oh well--great people, excellent club--I didn't hear one cross word about anything, which is amazing!
Thanks to all who had a hand in this, especially to Pappy and the Twin Oaks crew. Even the IBO officials were amazed and how smoothly everything runs there.

For other info hungry folks here. I got a call from friend "batman" (Don) at 7 AM and he said he was on the road, about an hour from home, with his son William. He gave me the run down (and i really appreciated his considerate call). I will let him tell all - LOL. I am happy for all. I will report that he said he loved Pappy's place down there in TN and how the whole club and the IBO staff treated everybody with such great friendship. Don said it is a great farm and really set up nice for the archery goings on. That jives with everything I've always read/heard about the TN Classic (also held at Pappy's place, by the same folks/club).
