This is a new long bow design i came out with early in the year. I was very pleased to finally get a testimonial from the man i originally designed it for.
Hey here is the testimonial.
Laramy "SASQUATCH" Miller
I am very impressed with Kirk and his bows. Kirk designed the "BIGFOOT OBSIDIAN" for me. I am 6'6" with a 32in draw and it is not easy to make a bow for such a big guy and Kirk made my bow to perfection. The bow shoots like a dream. It has the smoothness and power of a recurve with a long bow look. The day I received the bow I took it strait back to the house set it up and took a few shots. I was amazed at the performance, the first three shots hit right were I aimed. I have shot both traditional and compound archery since I was a young kid and I have never had a bow that I could take out of the box and hit right were I wanted without a little tuning. Three days after I received this bow I went out and took a mountain lion with it. The performance of these bows are second to none. When i shot my lion the arrow went clean thru the animal and stuck in a limb behind the cat. I have seen quit a few lions killed with a long bow and I have never witnessed that happen before. Since then I have taken a Bison with the same bow. I am shooting 60 lbs with a 32in draw and I am confident that I could take down any animal in north America with this bow. The artistic craftsmanship of the bow is amazing. I asked kirk to make me a bow that looked traditional. There is a leather/rawhide grip rapped around a beautiful crafted peace of burl wood for the riser with arrowheads inlaid on the side. The limbs have a dark almost gray look that sets the bow apart from any custom bow I have ever seen. I truly believe that Kirk puts his pride and heart into every bow that he makes and I couldn't be happier with both the product and the company.
Thanks again Kirk for all the hard work and keep it up. Laramy

Kirk, how does this compare to the Sasquatch?

I recently received a custom bow, Sasquatch TD, from Kirk and have nothing but great things to say about the bowyer and his product. Wish I had more time to play with it but that will come when things settle down in my life. Looking forward to putting her up against some of my ILF rigs, I bet she will fair very nicely.
If you like a more traditional longbow the obsidian should be on your short list. Great looking bow and the Ibeam should make the riser very solid and a bit heavier.

Like all of my bows, i take pride in building a very smooth shooting, high performance bow.
This bow was designed with the same high performance capasity as the "Sasquatch" and the "Splinter Kat" models, with a more traditional overtone and lower grip angle than a pistol grip.
The geometry of the limbs differ a lot from the Sasquatch lb and has a different feel to the draw due to the grip location. The Sas has a forward placed grip that appeals to the recurve guys a lot more. The Obsidian has that long bow feel I've heard described as "Being in the shot" The DFC charts show a more consistent PPI throughout the draw cycle than the hybrid long bow like my Sasquatch, or recurve bows in general typically have. That's a great looking bow. The result of the cat hunt don't look bad either.
Hey Katman - just wanted to mention that Kirk built an ILF riser for me with what looks to be a very similar grip. Great bow - I confess I didn't really appreciate what he'd done with the grip when I took it out of the box, but as soon as it was set up and I put a little pressure on the string, I sure did. That thing slides right in first time, every time. It's as accurate a bow as I've ever shot. So if you want to keep your ILF limbs busy, talk to Kirk.

dragon rider, I had sent Kirk a custom wood grip and metal ilf riser to copy the grip that I love, Kirk thought a slight change to the throat would help and I said OK, sure glad I did. Love it more than the ILF grip. Another Sassy is in my future for sure.
"i take pride in building a very smooth shooting, high performance bow" That quote from Kirk sums up my Sasquatch and Kirk nicely. A very quiet bow also applies. Exchanging emails MANY times I got to know Kirk some and sure glad I found him.
Hope you catch a fish or two on your whitewater excursions Kirk. Yahoooo bro.
If your on the fence try a Sasquatch, sure glad I did.

Thanks for the kind words guys. If anyone wants to try one of these out, I'll have several of them on display at Denton Hill at the end of the month.

That carved black Mamba is a really neat bow.
Billy, I would bet that Kirk would dye a bow for you but you sure wouldn't want to dye koa. At least not this koa. No problem with the snakes. Kirk hates em but I think they belong on a bow instead of on a snake. I would bet he would ship that bow to me for the skins. LOL Always more than one way to skin a Kat (bow).

All joking aside. If Kirk builds it, it's going to be a shooter as well as a looker.
That Obsidian is a great looking bow.
Hey Billy, How you doin'? Koa's beautiful wood but why screw it up with snake fur? Make a belt or hat band out of the snake and let the wood speak for itself.

Brother Paul.....I'm doing bout as well as an old, beat up, worn out cowboy can do I reckon.
I have 2 bows with Koa veneers, and I'd never think of staining Koa.....I was jerking Kirk's chain a bit cause I know he don't like staining woods, and proly likes snake skins even less. Posts: 1728 | From: Republic Of Texas | Registered: Mar 2003
