Hi guys. I saw a self filmed video of a turkey hunt on pow wow by bohuntr. I thought it was great and almost tripped over my self getting to radio shack to buy the video camera he used. I thought a little research might be in order first. The camera used was a Santos Xacti. Dual photo/video 5x zoom HD video &16 10mega pixel photo. $100. I hunt mostly deer and turkey . What do u think of this video recorder? I don't care so much about the photo option but its certainly nice. I would spend time a max of around $250 if there was a recorder that I would be happier with down the road. I excited to have something for the fall. Thanks for your guidingI advice and time guys! The Go-Pro HD seems to be another popular choice to be attached to a hat, gun, bow, or tree. Haven't used one personally but have seen videos taken by them and the picture quality is excellent.

Well my 2 cents, I picked up a lid cam and it attaches to the brim of your hat and it seems to be pretty good,check it out. It is very compact and lite and easy to operate, it records where your looking easy enough.

I have a GoPro and love it. No zoom, but its practically indestructable and takes great video. I used it this past weekend to film a buddy of mine and I in the turkey blind. It gives a perspective you don't often see. They are pretty much rebuildable and even come with a waterproof case. The price is well within your range. I bought the cheaper 960 instead of the 1080 and have no complaints. It stays with my hunting gear.

I'm using a little JVC Everio flash drive HD camera for my filming this past season and looks like I won't be taking the "big" camera anymore. It did great and took some awesome footage that looks really nice on the big screen. Plus it has a 20X zoom and lot's of nice features to create really good footage and all for about $300!

I agree with Mark Land. I have been filming for many years going from old tapes to now solid state. The Go-Pro is awesome for a second camera which I use to mount to my bow to look back at me for a different perspective. The problem is with the go-pro it doesn't have a zoom and therefore longer distances will look very small with not much detail. There are two major things I would look for if I were you and that is zoom and low light quality. While you are Turkey hunting or Deer hunting you can use a decoy or have a shooting lane where you can zoom in closer before the shot and get great close up quality. The low light really comes in handy while deer hunting as you know most of the nice ones seem to come out at dusk. Just my two cents.
