I have never messed with skinny arrows and have some on order than i'm wanting to make the strongest arrow possible. What would you guys use for an insert?
honestly, I don't want to add 100 grains up front, and will foot them as well. I will have a 300 grain tip, so i don't want to add any more than necessary. I like lighter arrows.

If you are going to foot them and do not want to add a heavier insert or outsert then the factory inserts will be just fine for your application. Good luck

I foot my Axis trads with 2016's ....

I foot with a 2018 on regular axis

Take a look at the GoldTip Kinetics outserts.
I used these in place of the HIT inserts on FMJs.
They are aluminum so on a real hard glancing hit they might still bend the outsert. Footing will not help prevent bending of the outserts but does help prevent splitting of shafts from straight on hard hits.

I am using 2018 footings on 400 axis trads. They fit very snug. I also use 50gr brass hit inserts. Arrows are very tough. Coming in at about 615gr with a 200gr point.
I found using the 2016 wasn't as durable due to the thinner wall thickness, also it had a little more space so just don't think it was as tough.
