I have made this offer many times, made a few good friends from it. I LOVE where I hunt no place in the world I would rather be and I enjoy sharing my area with like minded friends. I hunt 6r of the Northern zone. it is HARD hunting and few deer in comparison to South BUT I know the area well and the deer habits in this area better then most. I have never bow killed a deer here (missed 2) but have put a lot of deer in front of friends and a good friend killed his first deer EVER with long bow out of my stand. I only hunt weekends unless on vacation but you are welcome to hunt it whenever you can. it is %90 public land and the private is only posted in 1 small area, I have permission to hunt it all. it is in The Adirondack State Forest and the are I hunt is on the side of a small mountain that has beech and oak ridges and flats. this year looks GREAT plenty of mast crops deer sign, bear and the most turkeys I have ever saw up here. I am scouting every weekend now and would be glad to show anyone the area. I %100 guarantee you will be the ONLY people hunting this mountain during bow season, only people that bow hunt it go with me or a few Tradgangers have learned the area and might possibly be there but it is a HUGE area and chances are you wouldn't see them even if they were hunting with us! I have treestands in place but I will be hunting the ground. its is HARD walking but beautiful. if interested give me a shout. I own 5 small acres smack on top of the mountain right in the middle of a great bedding area. if interested give me a shout. again you are welcome to hunt completely on your own I just want to share this spot with the members on here this will not be posted anywhere else on any forums. I will warn you when muzzleloader/rifle opens it gets hit pretty good but not a soul for bow. I just put out 5 trail cams last weekend and will be checking every Sunday now.

That is very kind of you! Maybe one year I will take you up on the offer! Very generous.
-
What an awesome offer! It's a shame I live 1,990 miles from you... if only it were closer to 1,800 miles I'd be there.
-
lol I really don't think its a big deal and it really is hard hunting with few critters in comparison to areas most of you hunt BUT my zone opens before most others and you can use it as a warm up to your season.
-
What an awesome gesture! Might be a plan for a future season.
-
there are a LOT of bear but man they just seem to disappear once season starts. I do not want to shoot one, I had 3 in shooting distance last year. 3 years in a row now I have had the same big sow on camera in the same area.

Awesome gesture, Bro! :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:

Thanks Ken. Great offer.
I hope someone takes you up on it.
Being in WI that is just a tad far for a commute hunt so I cannot, but thanks anyway !

That's a terrific offer, Ken. Sounds awesome.
When I see a snow scene like your one picture, it gets me started, for sure.
I've been hunting a small 85 acres in zone 8R. The owner practically begged me to hunt and remove some of his deer. Doesn't like just anybody (we've all heard those types of stories)....
Anyway, maybe I'll take you up on that one day.
Good luck. And, I hope you get a bear!!
-
That's a generous offer..I wish I could take you up on that

I have been on that mountain over 50 times and have seen deer exactly 1 time (during turkey season). I have heard them and seen lots of sign.
Hunting is tough but You will be hard pressed to find the peace, beauty and tranquility of this enchanted mountain.
Ken, I will take you up on that ride during the opener ;) ;) :p Seriously though, good luck.
-
Charlie will be awesome to have you up there again and although not with bow I know you had a very memorable hunt, by the way it was the BEST nesting season EVER around here and I ran in to 3 separate flocks Sunday.
-
Man...wish I lived closer. Thanks for the invite.
-
how far from nh are you?
-
One of the many reasons I love this site, awesome gesture. Hope you nail one of those old ridge runners, kinda place that in rifle a guy could hunt like the Benoits.
-
Ken
Hopefully we can share a hunt and some Adirondack MOJO. Thanks for the invite.
-
i'm in Western NY Fonda/Johnstown are, exit 28 on throughway and your 5 mins from my door step.
-
Ken, the hunting may not be great but meeting you would be, quite set on hunting here but thank you....
-
Ken, i'll be up for a week in the southern adks to hunt, I may take you up on that and could come up for a day or so.
-
hope to hit the mountain early Sunday morning and check my trail cams, expecting a lot of bear activity from 2 I have on a beech ridge with a lot of sign.
-
Hey Ken, you going out the 27th of sept or are you working. Tuesday's are my days off & normally I'd be up @ my land but figured maybe I'd pay your mountain a visit.
-
well trying to get it off but not looking good and that's a shame because that blows the whole early season up right there before the weekend.
-
Keep me posted if your luck changes. Will be up @ my land with my brothers this weekend working. Wish I had more than 17acres but the state land there lets us roam around. Hoping the beech nut crop is good for us this year. The Bears love them. Either way I need to spend at least one day there with you this year. Good luck bro!!
-
You're a generous man! Very few people are willing to share their hunting spots. I wish I could make it this year! Maybe next year. Best of luck this fall!
-
Hi Ken, just wondering if you got out to check the cams? I had bears on all 4 of mine. Nothing real big but one shooter. Couple of good looking Cubs too. Looking forward to the 17th. Will be in my stand with my Lost Creek NAT hoping to kill another bear with it. Keep me posted. Later.
-
Hi Ken, I'll be at Lewey Lake from the 19th to the 27th. I plan on doing a little fishing and maybe some hunting for the first few days. My wife and lab are coming up on the 22nd to do the moose festival in Indian Lake. Anyone in the area feel free to stop by for a cold one or a hot one depending on the time :) . I have a Kodiak tent and black Ram, lots of burgers and hot dogs.
-
I saw deer there the year Joe and I came.
-
I apologize for not updating here, its been hotter then the bowels of hell here for the past three weeks and I HATE hot weather! I put 5 trail cams out 2 weeks ago and will be checking them Sunday morning. I just refuse to move in this stifling heat, the work week kills me in the Brown truck. if anyone would like to go Sunday I plan on heading up the mountain around 8 am and stump shooting a bit.
-
also don't get me wrong there are a good amount of deer here I am just trying to prepare anyone that goes for the worst case scenario, compared to the Southern Zone where seeing deer are the norm it is not the case here BUT I know the area well and have put deer, bear, turkey and coyotes in front of MANY people with bow in had, a whole lot of swing and miss except for some small game kills.
-
I'd love to hunt the Adirondacks someday. Haven't been up there since we went to frontier town as a kid.
-
Wow I wish I could..... So far away.... Also very generous of you... I have asked dozens of people here in Louisiana that own great private land and can't find anyone that will let me hunt it....yet anyway. Best of luck to you this season!
-
Hi all, good luck to anyone going out Saturday for the opener of early bear. I'll be up @ my land hoping to see one Lost Creek NAT in hand. Was up there Tuesday scouting & saw 5 deer. 1 small buck. How much you wanna bet I don't see them the 27th when deer opens?
-
That's an awesome offer, and I would like to take you up on it, if you'll have me. I live in 6S and mostly Hunt it and 4f. All private land. I have permission to bring people with me who are responsible hunters...maybe I could take you on some land I know too. What part of 6r? I know it hits at least 4 counties if I'm not mistaken. Thanks again for the offer!
-
A fine gesture to be sure. I travelled that area quite a bit some years ago, but wasn't hunting at that time. Lived north of there for about 20 years.
A minor point relative to location: Ken is in Eastern NY, not western.
-
6r is the Sothern Zone and 5j is the Northern Zone of where I hunt, route 29 divides them. was hoping to have the 27,28 and 29th off but was told today there is no coverage AGAIN at work, very frustrated! I will be checking trail cameras Saturday and will try to post them that night. looking like I can not do any hunting except for weekends now and when I hit vacation in November.

I feel your pain bud. It's tough being a working man some times. Good luck with your season.
-
I've had one off-line dealing with Ken on a trade years back and his end of the deal was flabbergasting...
He sent more truck then should be allowed for what I sent him...so the reality this is one GIANT-hearted man of caring is beyond comment!
I can't even calculate how many hours it would be from TN to NY even S. Zone... but to spend time with this ole boy would be well worth the adventure gained!
-
Doc, you will give him a big head........ :biglaugh:
