Title: Wood arrow help?
Post by: RD808 on September 03, 2016, 02:27:00 AM
I always have bad luck with choosing wooden arrows so ill just ask the people who know better.

I am currently shooting a Omega Imperial Longbow 47# at 26".  I believe its cut 1/8 past center? not sure though.

Currently shooting micro diameter shafts.  Black Eagle Deep impacts .500 spine, with a 200gr head.  About 470grs.

I would like a the fully built wooden shaft to be close or over 470.  I dont have a specific head weight in mind.

These will be used for 3D tournaments.

Any suggestions on spine/head weight?

Mahalo!!!!

At 26.5"-27.5" a 40-45 spine shaft with a 125gr head, finished could weight about 475gr, if you keep the shaft weight at around 11-11.5 grains per inch on the raw shaft.

Its a crap shoot, and you may find 45-50 with the same specs above necessary. Each bow/shooter are different.  Its a place to start anyway.

It would be worth trying 45-50lb. spine, 27" throat of nock to back of point with a 125 grain field point.

Ok thanks guys!  Ill try the 45-50 spine.

If too stiff ill just up point weight.

Appreciate your help!
